The role of sludge thickening is to thicken the sludge of low concentration generated in STPs, and to make subsequent processes such as sludge digestion and sludge de-watering more effective. Thickened sludge may be of two kinds:primary sludge generated in the primary settling tank and excess sludge generated in the secondary settling tank. Sludge thickening may be
Gravity belt thickener model selection is a function of hydraulic feed rate; the Model G-25 thickening system is generally appropriate for 0.5% to 1.0% waste activated sludge feed rates up to 125 GPM (7.9 liters/sec or 28 M3/h) and the GSC and GSCE series machines are appropriate for higher feed rates.
Multi-Disk Screw Press ( Hereinafter referred as MDS ) belongs to the screw press, it's clog-free and can reduce the sedimentation tank and sludge thickening tank, saving the cost of sewage plant construction. MDS using screw and the moving rings to clean itself as clog-free structure, and controlled by the PLC automatically, it's a new technology that can replace the traditional filter press like belt
Apr 20, 2017 · The main thickening processes for sludge treatment are based on the following:Gravity:The sludge enters in the central area; the thickened sludge collects in the lower part and the supernatant is left in the upper part. This system is used in primary, physicochemical and mixed sludges that decant well by gravity. Biological sludge decants slowly.
During the sludge thickening process, waste activated sludge, at a dilute liquid of 0.8%, is thickened to a sludge solids concentration between 3-7% solids. Stabilization At the BRWWTP, sludge stabilization is currently achieved by the use of six, 1.3 million gallon conventional and two, 3 million gallon, egg-shaped anaerobic sludge digesters.

Location of the thickener in a wastewater treatment plant is important. If sludge is to be digested, thickening a blend of primary and waste activated sludge is a good practice. If these sludges are to be dewatered, then they should be thickened separately and mixed immediately before dewatering [3]. Sludge Thickening vs. Dewatering
After the sludge has been taken off the belt by the doctor blade, the filter belt passes a spray nozzle bar that cleans the belt washing sludge particles out of the belt pores. The wash water is collected, separate from the clear filtrate from the thickening process, below the filter belt in a filtrate pan that is integrated in the plant housing.
Sludge Dewatering Systems Most wastewater treatment processes produce a watery sludge byproduct. Disposing of this sludge can often prove very expensive and for that reason, a sludge dewatering system is a great option for reducing costs. By dehydrating the solid byproduct, the weight and volume of product is reduced, delivering major cost savings.
5.4 sludge treatment:- The main goal of sludge treatment is to convert it to an inert solid product that can be safely disposed in the environment or reused for useful purposes. The main sludge treatment steps are- a. Sludge thickening. b. Sludge stabilization. c. Sludge dewatering.
Thickening of Activated Sludge Many effluent treatment plants use a biological treatment process to reduce the wastewater COD and BOD before discharging into the downstream environment. During the treatment process colonies of bacteria develop and grow forming a biological body producing a solid waste as it feeds on the chemicals and nutrients.
Kamps - Omega MD Range - Gravity Belt Thickeners of Sludge Thickening by KAMPS s.a.. Designed for continuous mechanical thickening of municipal or industrial sludge. Continuous thickening. Belt width:from 1 to 3 m. Filtration length:3 m. Sludge flo
The Alfa Laval AS-H Belt Thickener is a gravity belt thickener used to thicken dilute sludge and slurries particularly those from biological and activated sludge processes. It is suitable for all municipal or industrial flocculated sludges – particularly those from biological and activated sludge processes.

The methods used to treat and dispose sludge are:1. Thickening of Sludge 2. Digestion or Stabilisation 3. Conditioning 4. Dewatering 5. Drying 6. Incineration or Thermal Reduction 7. Ultimate Disposal. 1. Thickening of Sludge:Sludge thickening is commonly achieved by the following three methods:(i) Gravity Thickening:ADVERTISEMENTS:Gravity thickening is the most common []

gravity thickening of sludge to activated sludge, and to compare results with those obtained by Kos [10] for water treatment sludge. 2) to develop curves for the evaluation of thickening of activated sludge. 3) to show the effect that temperature has on the per-formance of a continuous gravity thickener and secondary Sedimentation basins.
Gravity belt thickening facilities were installed to provide enhanced thickening and reduced volumes for waste activated sludge streams. Belt filter press dewatering was installed allowing the facility to migrate from a liquid solids handling program to a less costly dewatered cake solids handling program and provide capability to achieve Class
For the treatment of the slurry thickening and reduce the treating cost. It can be dewatered by the 2nd squeezing for the sludge cake after belt press dehydrating to decrease the water content rate of sludge cake from 85% to 40%(depends on the feature of the slurry), reduce the cost of the post disposal effectively. Activated sludge
